Sarah and Alex are two people having a discussion on social media and how it affects society. Alex is a baby boomer who is not really familiar with social media, unlike Sarah who is a millennial and grew up with it.

Sarah: Hello Alex Have you heard of the new social media site that is gaining so much attention?

Alex: No, I don’t have much experience with social networking. It isn’t beneficial to society, in my opinion.

Sarah: Why do you say that? Social media, in my opinion, offers several advantages. It enables communication and information sharing, and it’s a terrific method to keep in touch with loved ones.

Alex: Although I accept your reasoning, I believe social media has some significant disadvantages. For starters, it can be addictive and a significant diversion from relationships and experiences in real life. It could also serve as a haven for false information and fake news.

Sarah: I acknowledge that social media has some drawbacks, but I believe that it is up to each individual to exercise caution when using it. It’s crucial to keep informed and know the difference between fact and fantasy.

Alex: The issue, in my opinion, is that a lot of young people lack the knowledge and abilities needed to use social media responsibly. They lack the knowledge and maturity to navigate the possible hazards of social networking.

Sarah: Although this may be partially accurate, I believe it is inappropriate to generalize about all young people in that way. Many of us have a positive relationship with social media since we used it growing up.

Alex: I recognise your perspective, but I believe social media continues to have a negative impact on society. Real-world relationships are breaking down as a result of it, and meaningful interpersonal communication and connection are becoming more difficult.

Sarah: Although I share your worries, I believe social media may also be a force for good. It enables us to communicate with individuals around the globe and exchange crucial knowledge and concepts.

Alex: I understand what you’re saying, but I still believe that we need to exercise caution when it comes to how social media affects our culture. Its advantages and disadvantages must be carefully considered, and we must utilize it responsibly.

Sarah: You and I both agree on that. While it’s necessary to be mindful of the possible risks associated with social media, we should also be receptive to its advantages. In the end, it’s up to each person to choose how to utilize social media in a healthy and responsible way.
